**Job Summary**
Financial Resource Optimization (FRO) is responsible for the management of capital resources in support of RBC’s key strategic objectives. FRO’s mandate includes the measurement, monitoring, and forecasting of risk-weighted assets, leverage, and capital metrics. FRO collaborates with Businesses, Strategy, Group Risk Management, and other Finance groups to measure and deploy capital in support of RBC’s growth and financial objectives while adhering to regulatory requirements.

As a Data Analyst (ML/AI), you’ll work in the FRO Data, Systems, and Business Solutions team supporting the Product/Modeling team with both the existing infrastructure platform and the build-out of the bank’s next-generation solution for Regulatory and Economic Capital Measurement and integration of data across Finance and Risk.

**Job Description**
You’ll support the Product team by contributing and leading:

- **Analytics & Metrics**: Analyze business requirements or problems and collaborate with subject matter experts to select appropriate statistical and ML/AI models. Use machine learning and data mining techniques to extract insights from massive datasets. Conduct data analysis to determine relevant features/data points for training ML models. Develop agile metrics to oversee Software BAU and enhance agile maturity.

- **Root Cause Problem Solving**: Investigate business processes following data collection and analysis. Interview stakeholders, analyze systems, document findings, and determine the causes of issues. Communicate conclusions concisely, collaborating with FRO team members to devise and implement solutions.

- **Technical Writing**: Assist in organizing and documenting knowledge as the team migrates software platforms. Develop and execute a program to preserve operational knowledge, driving user adoption.

- **Special Projects**: Collaborate on the design and build of proof-of-concepts to implement a hybrid cloud data strategy, transitioning from on-prem systems to cloud-based solutions.

**What do you need to succeed?**
- Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on STEM or Business.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience analyzing and manipulating large datasets using SQL, Hive, or similar tools.
- Programming knowledge in Java, Python, or Bash/shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, HDFS, Yarn), cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks), big data, Spark, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), as well as data visualization tools like Tableau.
- Knowledge of data cleaning, data mining, and machine learning; knowledge of Natural Language Processing is a strong plus.

**Nice-to-have:**
- Knowledge of and experience in capital and risk management.
- Interest or previous experience in the financial industry or FinTech.
- Experience with agile or design thinking methodologies.

**Eligibility:**
To be eligible for this position, candidates must either:
- Be returning to school after the work term end-date, or
- If not returning (i.e., graduating immediately after the work term), require the full work term as a mandatory component for graduation.
