We are currently looking for an **Assistant Category Manager**. The incumbent in this role will develop a deep understanding of designated categories, market trends and consumer behaviors, and be accountable for the product, placement, pricing and promotion for items within their categories, consistent with each banner strategy.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in development and management of merchandising programs for each Banner and manage the seasonal process for each Banner.
- Review and analyze margins, deals, retail savings, pricing, forecasts, units of measure, cost, pages, and sales sets for accuracy.
- Review Agency Business reports daily and review discrepancies with the Category Manager, assisting with all aspects of category troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Communicate with the Replenishment Team regarding inventory management, competitive price checks, and take appropriate action on weekly price change reports.
- Administer promotional forms as required (e.g., Deal Sheet, Ad Write Ups, Merchandising Planner).
- Assess and clear Agency Business blocked items and manage Private Label Optimization (PLO) tracker process.
- Assist with the resolution of retail pricing issues and review vendor submissions and new article listing reports.
- Communicate seasonal timelines to vendors and resolve vendor and store credit claims.
- Assist in ad creation and ad proofing processes, maintaining the Ad tool for the grocery department.
- Respond to requests to meet customer needs and develop store displays and plan-o-grams.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of category strategy and tactics.
- Focus on continuous improvement on task completion, efficiency, and utilize all appropriate data sources to develop and deliver on category strategies.
- Review under-performing categories, identify opportunities, and expedite category plans with operational support.
**Qualifications:**
- Merchandising or retail experience.
- An Undergraduate Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite.
