**Position Overview:**
The Behavioural Support Worker is responsible for providing direct support to clients and families in need of respite care for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder and/or neurodevelopmental conditions. This role involves working directly in the family home to support children and youth who may have diverse behavioral, developmental, mental health, medical needs, and social vulnerabilities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan and implement activities according to individualized care plans that address the recreational and leisure needs of clients.
- Participate in collaborative care meetings with the interdisciplinary team, clients, and caregivers.
- Provide direct care to children/youth up to 18 years with autism spectrum disorder and/or neurodevelopmental conditions in home settings.
- Administer and record prescribed medication according to medical instructions and agency policies.
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene needs, promoting independence.
- Implement behavioral strategies as outlined in the Behavioural Support Plan (BSP).
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with VHA standards.
- Conduct daily assessments of client needs in consultation with families.
**Qualifications:**
- Degree or diploma in a health-related field (Social Work, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker).
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention (NVCPI) is required.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Experience working directly with children and/or youth with significant needs and challenges.
- A valid G License and ability to drive is mandatory.
