Some Of What You Will Do The Category Manager of New Business is at the forefront of discovering and launching new product categories, driving growth and innovation in both B2B and B2C channels. With a relentless entrepreneurial spirit, they take ownership of sourcing and curating differentiated, high-impact product assortments that align with the company’s vision and brand identity. Through strategic leadership, they spearhead the development of new categories, ensuring successful execution both in-store and online. This role demands a fearless, solution-oriented mindset, enabling the Category Manager to navigate complexities and overcome obstacles to bring new products to our customers. By leveraging deep market insights and customer needs, they create unique offerings that elevate the company’s competitive edge, improve profitability, and provide a seamless, differentiated experience for customers Specifically, You Will Leverage market insights, competitive intelligence and consumer trends to profile new product categories and estimate opportunity sizing. Liaise with internal stakeholders (Store Development, Merch Ops and etc) to coordinate from concept to launch, ensuring flawless execution. Manage financial plans for our Brick & Mortar, E-commerce, and/or Business-to-Business banners. Ensure your portfolio’s go-to-market strategy is relevant and timely based on its respective channel. Manage an extended aisle and dropship program through our e-commerce channel. Build an assortment and execute promotional plans that are relevant to the respective channel. Develop and execute, in coordination with Procurement and Product Development teams, a strategic owned brand strategy to differentiate our product offering. Ensure product assortment is both productive and relevant for the market by actively managing the assortment through its product lifecycle. Some Of What You Need Post secondary degree/diploma with a focus on retail management, merchandising and purchasing or equivalent experience. Ability to foresee market trends and changes to make effective buying decisions. Minimum of 5-7 years of category management experience preferably with a national retail chain or five years in the Staples Buyer Development Program.
