**Key Responsibilities:**

- Handle various types of mainstream physical damage claims including vehicle repairs, total losses, subrogation and fault determination, DCPD claims, and out of province claims.
- Determine coverage, draft reservation of rights and denial letters, and attend mediation/settlement conferences.
- Instruct independent adjusters and attorneys in the negotiation and settlement of claims.
- Review complex commercial auto claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverage.
- Prepare disclaimers and/or reservation of rights letters and communicate them to underwriters, brokers, and insured parties when applicable.
- Investigate and direct adjusters on investigations as necessary.
- Provide instruction to legal counsel to facilitate appropriate claim resolution and ensure compliance with litigation guidelines.
- Participate in the mediation/ADR process to resolve claims and negotiate settlements directly where possible.
- Issue payments within the appropriate time frame and operate within best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review and documentation.
- Inform management of all complaints, large losses, and coverage issues.

**Qualifications:**

- Minimum of 2 years of experience or knowledge in handling commercial auto claims is an asset.
- College/University education or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong decision-making abilities and direction-giving to counsel and/or adjusters.
- Excellent negotiating, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to manage workload effectively and efficiently.
- Enrollment or willingness to obtain a CIP designation is an asset.
- Proficient in using a paperless claim file system.
