**Job Posting: Engineering Lead, Middleware**

**The Opportunity**
The Engineering Lead, Middleware is a senior technical role supporting the introduction of middleware technologies at Ontario Teachers’. You will be responsible for middleware strategy, planning design, and continuous improvement, working with various service providers to coordinate implementation. Your role will involve planning, gathering, and translating technical requirements into infrastructure solution designs that align with business needs.

**Who You’ll Work With**
You will report to the Senior Manager, Middleware Engineering, while maintaining relationships with key vendors and internal partners. You will manage services, processes, and KPIs related to system design effectiveness, requirements traceability, customer satisfaction, system design quality, and system availability.

**What You’ll Do**
- Define and manage Technology Infrastructure (TI) controls.
- Implement Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code (Chef, CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Evaluate and introduce new TI technology (hardware and software).
- Coordinate and execute all FOAK testing and POCs (scoping and execution).
- Collaborate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and availability.
- Procure hardware, software, and software licensing; manage licensing model choices.
- Provide Level 3 Support for various infrastructure and COTS software (rotating on-call).
- Prioritize builds in coordination with the Business & Demand Management function.
- Architect, design, and implement On-Prem and Cloud-Based solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior technical staff and managed services staff.

**What You’ll Need**
- Deep experience in the design of distributed, high availability middleware systems.
- Demonstrated ability in designing Enterprise Infrastructure Services running various Compute, Network, and Storage ecosystems.
- Experience working with a Global Managed Services provider.
- Proficiency in technologies such as Azure PaaS & SaaS services, Kubernetes (AKS), DataBricks, PowerPlatform (Dynamics), Azure OpenAI, Model Serving (ML, LLMs), Astronomer (Airflow), DBT, Python, Java, .NET Core, CI/CD Pipelines, Terraform.
- ITIL Foundations and TOGAF certifications are preferred.
- Proven ability to handle deliverables, influence decisions, lead technical staff, and organize work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at technical professional and customer/stakeholder levels.
