**Role Overview:**
We are seeking a Machine Learning Foundational Research Intern to join our team. In this role, you will be involved in the entire model development lifecycle, from hypothesis generation to implementation, and you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals. You will have the opportunity to innovate and evaluate new models and research techniques that will enhance our AI capabilities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Participate in the design and delivery of AI solutions to enhance Thomson Reuters' products.
- Involve in the development and testing of high-quality models.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team, sharing knowledge and learning from colleagues worldwide.
- Innovate by proposing new approaches and technologies.
- Assess new models and research techniques for AI development applications.
**Qualifications:**
**Required:**
- Current PhD student or recent Master's graduate in a relevant ML discipline.
- Practical experience in building NLP/IR/ML systems, from ideation to implementation.
- Software engineering skills for model prototyping.
- Proficiency in Python, deep learning frameworks, and relevant tools.
- Experience contributing to a shared codebase.
- Familiarity with remote development on AWS, Azure, or similar platforms.
- Data-driven problem-solving mindset with an innovative disposition.
- Strong communication skills for conveying AI concepts to diverse audiences.
**Preferred:**
- Experience translating academic research into working prototypes.
- Familiarity with generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
- Knowledge of concepts such as Knowledge Graphs, Training LLMs, Reward Models, Synthetic Data Generation, Evaluating LLMs, Legal Tech, or related areas.
- Publications in relevant venues (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, SIGIR, KDD) are a plus.
**Internship Duration:**
The preferred length of the internship is 6-9 months.
