**About the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC):**
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. We aim to protect investors from fraudulent practices, foster fair and efficient capital markets, contribute to capital formation, and enhance financial stability.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Regulatory Oversight:** Ensure compliance of derivatives market participants with Ontario’s securities laws and regulations.
- **Policy Development:** Develop and update rules and policies for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives trading.
- **Risk Management:** Assess and monitor systemic risks associated with derivatives trading.
**Reporting to the Manager, Derivatives, the Research & Data Analyst will be responsible for:**
- Conducting research and providing support on policy development, rule compliance reviews, trade repository oversight, and database development.
- Delivering statistics, visualizations, analysis, and commentary on derivatives data.
**Key Duties:**
- **Compliance Reviews:** Collaborate with senior team members to assess compliance through data analytics and prepare written summaries of findings.
- **Research & Analysis:** Analyze OTC derivatives data across all asset classes, design custom reports, summarize data, and create visualizations to communicate insights.
- **Advisory on Trade Repositories:** Assist in communication with national and international trade repositories for data reporting and analysis needs.
- **Data and Technology Management:** Support data management activities for large datasets ensuring quality for reporting and analysis.
- **Coding:** Develop algorithms for data manipulation and transformation to address complex analytical challenges.
**Qualifications:**
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, computer science, or information management.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial data management, including scripting, coding, and report development.
- 1-2 years of experience in financial services or data management.
- Proficiency in database tools such as SQL, Python, and R.
- Experience with reporting software (Tableau, MS Power BI) and advanced MS Excel.
- Familiarity with market data vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv).
- Ability to deliver high-quality analysis and communicate results effectively.
- Knowledge of OTC derivatives and financial products is an asset.
