**Position Description:**
The Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) is currently seeking a Resource Laboratory Technologist to provide comprehensive technical expertise regarding testing, consultation, and education. This position supports a day shift, Monday to Friday, and will work in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory within the Division of Genome Diagnostics.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide specialized expertise regarding testing, calibration, operation, and maintenance of automated and manual testing.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of new methodologies and technologies.
- Provide training to technologists, students, and clinical fellows.
- Engage in workload activity measurement, quality control, and quality assurance programs.
- Maintain procedure manuals and ensure current laboratory practices and safety guidelines are followed.
- Perform analytical tests, assess, interpret and report results.
- Prepare and issue samples/products/specimens and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; perform laboratory tests within defined time expectations.
- Recognize failure, troubleshoot, document actions, and report issues to the supervisor.
- Assess results against diagnosis to ensure relevant results correspond with known patient data.
- Follow inventory control processes and communicate reagent and supply status.
- Participate in the development and support of policies and procedures within the Quality System.
- Follow health and safety procedures as per DPLM and Hospital guidelines.
- Perform quality control and document control results; recognize and address unusual QC results.

**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor of Science and/or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology; Bachelor of Science MLS preferred.
- Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Previous experience with DNA extraction, RNA extraction, and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is an asset.
- Comprehensive technical skills and minimum 5 years of recent experience in Molecular Genetics.
- Strong troubleshooting, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, self-motivate, and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Solid computer skills.
