Reporting to the Manager, Equity & Regulatory Control, the Senior Analyst, SCI Regulatory Reporting plays a vital role in supporting the Scotia Capital Inc. (SCI) Regulatory Reporting team to ensure compliance with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).
### Responsibilities:
- Support regulatory reporting through the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and schedules.
- Calculate regulatory capital for debt instruments and related derivatives (futures and interest rate swaps) as per CIRO regulations.
- Prepare analysis of dividends received and paid in principal inventory and related schedules on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Monitor regulatory thresholds through the preparation of the weekly Debt Concentration report (Schedule 9B) and communicate potential breaches.
- Assist in the Monthly Financial Review process, including adjustments, reclasses, gross ups, and variance analysis reports for debt products.
- Provide cross-coverage across various capital desks and functions, including Equity, Repo, New Issue, and FX.
- Support internal and external audits (i.e., KPMG and CIRO) by participating in walkthroughs and ensuring timely submission of requested files.
- Gather and analyze information for projects and ad-hoc requests from internal and external partners to support the Manager, Equity and Regulatory Reporting.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Provide insights into SCI’s weekly capital review and Monthly Financial Review, overseeing general activities.
### Qualifications:
- University undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in the financial industry.
- Broad knowledge of the Bank’s capital market products.
- Understanding of CIRO regulatory reporting requirements and financial reporting/accounting procedures.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and VBA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized, proficient in time management, able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines, both independently and collaboratively.
- Industry accreditation and/or professional designation (e.g., CSC, PDO, CFO, CFA, CPA) is an asset.
