**Role Summary:**
The Business Intelligence Specialist will support the client’s business information requirements by implementing and supporting business intelligence (BI) solutions. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining BI tools, dashboards, and customized query applications to analyze and interpret key business data. The incumbent will provide actionable insights and strategic guidance to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and develop BI solutions using Microsoft BI tools (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Azure Data Factory).
- Support guided analysis, drill-down functionality, report scheduling, and implementation of "opportunity" and "key-trend" alerts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and deliver insights.
- Develop and support data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes, ensuring data integrity and error handling.
- Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models and support enterprise architecture deliverables.
- Participate in the modernization of complex IT systems and the creation of detailed plans, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide advanced statistical modeling, econometrics guidance, and expertise in machine learning and analytics tools.
- Train and mentor business users on BI tools and best practices.

**Required Skills and Experience:**
- **Core Competencies:**
- 10+ years of experience in business analysis and BI development.
- Proven experience with database design (SQL Server, Oracle) and developing BI roadmaps.
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, RShiny, and statistical tools (R, SAS, SPSS).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques, including regression models, machine learning algorithms, and data mining.
- Ability to handle complex, high-volume datasets and design user-friendly dashboards.

- **Technical Skills:**
- Expertise in ETL processes, automation scripts, and monitoring frameworks.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory, cloud-based infrastructure, and single sign-on solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting tools such as Python, OpenRefine, and DAX.
- Advanced data visualization skills using statistical graphics and information graphics.

- **Communication and Collaboration:**
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and team collaboration capabilities.

**Nice-to-Have:**
- Experience working in the public sector, particularly with Ontario ministries or compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA).
- Familiarity with government data management standards (GO-ITS).
- Knowledge of trends in BI technologies and innovations.
