**Job Description**

The Senior Manager of Merchandising Operations and Support is responsible for establishing effective business relationships internally within Merchandising and across the Staples organization based on a deep knowledge of key business processes and applications/technologies that support the Merchandising business. This role will lead key functional areas, including Training & Capability Development, Vendor Management & Compliance, Merchandise Systems Product Owner, and Store Event Transmission & Support. Additionally, the role will partner with the Sr. Manager MDM on EDI responsibilities, product recalls, and Environmental Stewardship programs. The Senior Manager will support the transformation of merchandising functions by participating in key project workstreams aimed at becoming a customer-first and data-driven organization supported by leading retail processes and capabilities.

**Specific Responsibilities:**

- Identify and prioritize system enhancements and process improvements.
- Provide functional requirements and assist with UAT testing to ensure effective project rollouts to all stores.
- Support the merchandising team on system use for both retail and online channels, liaising with IT to troubleshoot, diagnose, test, and resolve systems issues.
- Investigate modification requests and work with IS and merchandising to develop user acceptance testing and documentation.
- Serve as a functional expert for in-store signage in support of the marketing team, diagnosing root causes of incorrect price signage.
- Identify promotional conflicts and manage promotions limitations with system expert knowledge.
- Design individualized training plans to support the adaptation of new systems or system changes.
- Recommend system enhancements and prioritize existing requests from the merchandising department.
- Analyze and recommend changes to current policies or procedures, identifying and implementing necessary changes.

**Qualifications:**

- Post-secondary education, preferably in Business Administration.
- Basic understanding of SQL statements is an asset.
- Sound understanding of merchandising terminology such as driving sales, PSI, inventory management, and OOS.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and individuals through formal and informal training programs, preferably within a merchandise-specific background.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive merchandising experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental programs or working knowledge of merchandise environmental standards and requirements.
- 3-5 years of previous management experience.
