**Job Title: Vendor Procurement and Compliance Specialist**

**Location: Staples Canada**

**Overview:**
Join our Own Brands department as the lead source and point of contact in the vendor procurement and compliance specialty realm. This exciting role will enable you to manage Staples Canada’s global perspective and cost ownership opportunities, contributing to the success of our business strategies.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage global market trends to seek out profit-gaining opportunities through negotiations and RFPs within our vendor base.
- Create quarterly cost optimization strategy presentations as a key component of the Product Manager’s category strategy.
- Provide monthly reports based on regular check-ins with the Cost Management Tool owned by Staples US.
- Develop and implement a cost shielding file comparing National Brand vs. Own Brand, including proposed action plans.
- Serve as an integral resource in the Product Manager’s development process, being aware and accountable for action items related to each category’s 3-year plans.
- Create and maintain a vendor mapping file to identify liability management blind spots by commodity, actively seeking new vendors for RFP bids.
- Revise vendor contracts to include legal, quality assurance, and supply chain considerations, ensuring clear binding agreements for future partnerships.

**Qualifications:**
- Post-secondary degree required; Business/Finance focus preferred.
- Negotiation certifications are a bonus.
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian retail standards and strong contractual agreement requirements for risk mitigation.
- In-depth understanding of factory audit requirements and successful vendor partnerships.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience negotiating retail goods and cost models.
- Proven experience as a vendor sourcing specialist, maintaining positive relationships during negotiations.
- Experience in owning cost management tools and translating market trends into strategic business plans.
