**Job Title: Software Development Engineer / Machine Learning Engineer**

**Description:**
The Conversational AI Modeling and Learning (CAMEL) team is seeking a passionate and inventive Software Development Engineer (SDE) / Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) to play a pivotal role in developing industry-leading Generative AI (GenAI) powered conversational assistant capabilities using advanced techniques such as fine-tuning, In Context Learning (ICL), and various prompt optimization strategies.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Quickly learn state-of-the-art technologies and algorithms in Generative AI to contribute to building the best conversational agents.
- Develop and maintain key platforms necessary for building, evaluating, and deploying large language models for conversational agents.
- Collaborate with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technologies, and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Work closely with Applied Scientists to process large datasets, scale machine learning models, and optimize latency, cost, and capacity.
- Operate in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software under tight deadlines.

**A Day in the Life:**
As an SDE with the CAMEL team, you will lead the development of high-performance, low-latency modeling solutions to advance conversational agents. Your work will directly impact customers through innovative products and services. Leverage Amazon’s diverse data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate development using multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) to enhance Conversational Excellence. You will significantly influence our overall strategy by defining data, enrichment, model optimizations, and evaluation. Drive system architecture and champion best practices for quality infrastructure.

**Basic Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
- 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Proficient in at least one programming language.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
