Our Aurora service is a distributed, fault-tolerant database that performs up to five times faster than standard MySQL and three times faster than PostgreSQL. As an Engineer on the team, you will design and implement major database components, focusing on the project of Aurora Global Database. We seek Software Development Engineers with experience in shipping products and creating control planes, tools, and modules. You should be passionate about optimizing the software development experience on a large scale, leveraging your strong technical skills to achieve results.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Deliver software features and improvements to major portions of your team’s software.
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand and provide effective solutions.
- Design software solutions to enable new features or enhance existing ones.
- Perform operational work to solve customer problems and improve team operations.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, coding, code reviews, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

**About the Team**

We value the time it takes for new team members to ramp up and become comfortable. You will have a launch buddy, an engineer who will guide you through the onboarding process, providing support and mentorship.

**Basic Qualifications**

- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience for both new and existing systems
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language

**Preferred Qualifications**

- 5+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience building large-scale distributed systems and cloud services
