Join our Conversational AI Modeling and Learning (CAMEL) team to lead the innovative development of Generative AI-powered assistant capabilities. In this role, you will guide a talented team of Machine Learning Engineers and Software Development Engineers in creating cutting-edge conversational agents. You will leverage Amazon's extensive resources and apply advanced techniques to push the boundaries of AI-driven communication, directly influencing our product strategy and architecture.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead and grow a team of ML/software engineers, providing technical mentorship and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Own the technical strategy and roadmap for platforms and software used in developing and deploying large language models.
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure technical excellence in scalable ML pipelines and frameworks.
- Collaborate with product, science, and platform teams to define and execute on the technical vision.
- Establish and optimize development processes for rapid experimentation while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Build mechanisms to measure and improve customer impact of ML systems.
- Lead hiring and development of diverse technical talent and drive operational excellence in deploying large-scale ML systems.
- Influence cross-team technical decisions and contribute to broader organizational strategy.
- Champion best practices in ML engineering, including experimentation and monitoring.

**A Day in the Life:**
Your typical day might involve reviewing project progress, brainstorming new approaches for model performance, aligning with product managers on customer needs, conducting code reviews, analyzing data for optimization opportunities, and engaging in research discussions to stay current with AI advancements.

**Basic Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
- 7+ years of experience within engineering teams.
- 3+ years of experience designing or architecting systems.
- 8+ years of experience leading the development of multi-tier web services.
- Knowledge of full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience in communicating with users and senior leadership to gather requirements and describe product strategy.
- History of recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing software engineering teams.
