**Position Description:**
The Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at SickKids is seeking a Test Development Technologist. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of complex tasks related to the planning, organizing, data analysis, and implementation of laboratory test development activities. You will provide technical support to medical laboratory technologists and assist with laboratory operations as required within Clinical Molecular Diagnostics, part of the Division of Pathology.

The Division of Pathology and Clinical Molecular Diagnostics combines the analysis of cellular and molecular abnormalities to deliver timely diagnostic results. Our collaborative team employs techniques such as histology, cytology, and immunohistochemistry, creating an environment that promotes professional growth and contributes to enhancing children's health.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop new laboratory procedures/methods and evaluation protocols for equipment and test kits.
- Analyze data relevant to new test methods and prepare validation reports.
- Participate in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implement new laboratory protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot and document any issues within scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with established SOPs and assist in the accuracy of laboratory tests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Sciences/Health discipline.
- Certificate of registration from the College of Medical Laboratory Technology of Ontario, with endorsement in Molecular Genetics/Cytogenetics.
- Membership in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Relevant experience in a clinical laboratory; test development experience is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
